About the position

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician at UCI Health is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients through venipuncture or skin puncture. This role also includes clerical duties such as answering calls at the laboratory front desk, logging specimens in the laboratory management system, and processing them for testing. The position is per diem, offering flexibility in scheduling while contributing to a leading academic health system.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient blood samples via venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Perform clerical duties including answering telephone calls at the laboratory front desk.
• Log specimens in the laboratory management system.
• Process specimens for testing.

Requirements

• Must be CA licensed as a phlebotomist.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience with adults and pediatric blood collections (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
