About the position
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) at UCI Health is responsible for performing laboratory testing on patient samples to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role requires maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring quality control of testing processes. The CLS must also demonstrate competency in performing complex tests and maintain effective communication and relationships within the health system.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing on patient samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment and instruments are maintained according to manufacturer's specifications.
- Conduct quality control testing on instruments and chemicals before patient testing.
- Undergo regular competency tests to maintain ability to perform patient testing.
- Act as a supervisor in the absence of higher supervisors.
Requirements
- Knowledge necessary to obtain Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in California.
- Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
- Two years of recent experience as a medical technologist in an acute care setting preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
