About the position

The Per Diem Clinical Quality Analyst position at Optum involves providing coding and coding auditing services directly to healthcare providers. The role focuses on analyzing and translating medical and clinical diagnoses into designated numerical codes, ensuring compliance with quality expectations and guidelines. This position allows for remote work flexibility and requires adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in handling medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coding and coding auditing services to healthcare providers.
  • Analyze and translate medical and clinical diagnoses into numerical codes.
  • Meet and maintain production and quality expectations for assigned measures.
  • Perform daily responsibilities with acute attention to detail.
  • Transition between priorities and abstraction projects based on program or client needs.
  • Manage and utilize confidential information from medical records in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Apply HEDIS concepts and principles in the abstraction and review process.
  • Work independently and act as a resource for others when needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 2+ years of healthcare experience
  • 2+ years of experience reviewing medical records
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications such as Outlook
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends during peak seasons as needed
  • Ability to complete full training needs during the first week of class
  • Ability to work any of the shift schedules during normal business hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of managed care experience
  • 2+ years of Medical Terminology experience
  • 4+ years of medical record review experience
  • Coding certificate from AAPC or AHIMA or Clinical Certification such as LPN, RN, or CNA
  • Experience working with HEDIS
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with Microsoft Teams
