About the position

As a Flight Paramedic, you will work alongside a Flight Nurse partner to provide high-quality pre-hospital advanced life support for critical patients. Your role involves assessment, triage, and treatment, ensuring safety and adherence to established medical standards. You will participate in mission briefings, documentation, and outreach activities, contributing to the overall improvement of care standards within the air medical service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is transferred to the accepting medical facility.
  • Maintain thorough patient care documentation throughout the transport process.
  • Practice within the defined scope of practice and maintain competency through ongoing education and training.
  • Document required licensure, certifications, and training, and attend a minimum of six educational programs per year.
  • Ensure knowledge and maintenance of all medical equipment and supplies used during transport.
  • Participate in patient and referring institution follow-up and outreach marketing activities.
  • Attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings, assisting with necessary documentation and safety checks.
  • Serve as a flight resource for neonatal/pediatric personnel during specialty patient transports.
  • Act as a role model and educator, participating in departmental activities and maintaining awareness of current pre-hospital care issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with at least three years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' recent experience in a busy 911 system.
  • Previous critical care transport and flight experience is a plus.
  • Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served with national certification as required.
  • Specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years of hire.
  • Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, and advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS as required by state or county regulations.
  • Completion of an advanced trauma course prior to third-rider orientation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in critical care transport and flight operations.
  • Advanced trauma course certifications such as TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, or CAMTS-approved courses.
