About the position

The position involves providing emergency mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, milieu management, and dispositional planning for patients in need of assessment and intervention across various clinical and community settings. The role is critical in ensuring timely and effective mental health care, collaborating with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive support to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides emergency mental health evaluations in various settings.
  • Acts as a consultant to assist patients and clinical teams with Behavioral Health expertise under psychiatrist supervision.
  • Delivers crisis and acute mental health intervention in collaboration with families and significant others.
  • Prioritizes and triages patients requiring immediate psychiatric intervention.
  • Conducts substance use screenings and interventions using evidence-based practices like SBIRT.
  • Manages telecommunication and documentation related to psychiatric patient admissions, treatment, and discharge.
  • Consults with the Team Leader, Manager, and/or Psychiatrist on Call to implement treatment and dispositional plans.
  • Reviews evaluations with the psychiatrist to determine appropriate treatment and disposition.
  • Attends monthly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Participates in ad hoc committees and leads reports at shift changes, collaborating with the Emergency Department Nursing team.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a human service field required.
  • LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT certification required.
