About the position

The Per-diem Registered Nurse (RN) position at Mass General Brigham Medical Group involves providing compassionate and competent care in an urgent care setting. The role requires delivering high-quality nursing services, assisting physicians during patient examinations, and ensuring effective patient triage. The RN will work a minimum of two shifts per month, contributing to a collaborative healthcare team dedicated to patient wellness and acute care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Travel to alternate offices as necessary and perform all duties required by each location.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to licensed practical nurses and medical assistants.
  • Monitor nursing in-basket for prescription requests and route them to the appropriate clinician.
  • Effectively triage patients and assist other team members with the rooming process as necessary.
  • Escalate any concerning patient conditions or decompensation to the clinician immediately.
  • Administer all medications and treatments per protocol.
  • Monitor and maintain code cart, AED, and order supplies as necessary.
  • Respond to all same-day messages and log into the appropriate location according to protocol.
  • Assist in supervising new staff in clinical tasks.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and training classes and participate in committees as requested.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing required.
  • License to practice as a RN or LPN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Urgent Care and/or Emergency Department experience preferred.
