About the position

The Per Diem Substitute Teacher at Niagara Charter School is responsible for assuming the duties of the regular classroom teacher on a temporary basis. This role involves following lesson plans, maintaining classroom routines, and providing instruction to students in grades K-6. The position requires effective classroom management and the ability to create an engaging learning environment while meeting the educational needs of diverse students, including those with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assume all duties of the regular classroom teacher.
• Follow the lesson plan(s) provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain normal classroom routines.
• Provide direct and indirect instruction.
• Prepare students adequately for all required assessments.
• Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative learning environment.
• Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management.
• Serve as advisors to students.
• Meet IEP regulations.
• Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of Common Core Learning Standards.
• Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to maximize teaching opportunities.
• Create long and short-term planning addressing individual needs of students.
• Evaluate students' progress.
• Prepare monthly individual student achievement reports for parents.
• Direct teacher assistants in working with small groups of children.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the CAO and/or designee.
