About the position

The position involves providing direct nursing care in a healthcare facility, focusing on patient outcomes during pre, intra, and post-procedure phases. The role requires adherence to organizational policies and quality standards while ensuring patient safety and effective communication with physicians and staff. The nurse will also be responsible for maintaining medical records, managing supplies, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care pre, during, and post procedure under the direction of the Facility Manager, Director of Nursing, or Charge Registered Nurse.
  • Support and drive organization quality standards through compliance with regulatory and accrediting body requirements.
  • Obtain necessary medical history and perform nursing assessments on the day of the procedure.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding post-procedure care of vascular access.
  • Monitor patient conditions before, during, and after procedures, especially during moderate sedation and contrast media injections.
  • Document patient information accurately from admission to discharge.
  • Administer medications and IV moderate sedation as directed by physician's orders.
  • Act as scrub technologist to assist the physician during procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
  • Operate facility equipment and technology safely and efficiently, reporting any malfunctions.
  • Assist with the efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, inventory, supplies, and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree desirable; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (R.N.) with current appropriate state licensure and ACLS certification.
  • 4 - 6 years' related experience preferred in Office Based Surgical Center, Ambulatory Surgical Center, Vascular Access, or similar settings.
  • Proficient in IV insertion and cardiac rhythm recognition.
  • Experience with medical database software and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Interventional Radiology and ICU/CCU or emergency department preferred.
  • Certified in BLS & ACLS.
