About the position

The Assistant Professor of Performance and Education at Cal Poly Pomona is a tenure-track faculty position within the Department of Theatre & New Dance. The role focuses on teaching undergraduate courses in Acting and Education & Community Engagement, supporting the department's commitment to inclusivity and equity in education. The successful candidate will engage with a diverse student body and contribute to the university's mission of promoting social mobility and educational equity.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in Acting and Education & Community Engagement.
• Demonstrate an active and ongoing professional practice in the field.
• Mentor students in their career readiness and transition into various careers post-graduation.
• Engage in community-responsive action research or service with diverse student populations.
• Contribute to departmental productions and interdisciplinary artistic endeavors.

Requirements

• M.F.A. in Acting or related field, or equivalent terminal degree conferred by the start date of the position.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and equity, evidenced by a Student Success Statement.
• Active and ongoing professional practice in the field of performance.
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary education level.

• Commitment to anti-racist and decolonial actor training.
• Knowledge of contemporary theatre/performance pedagogies, especially non-western origins.
• Experience with various Acting and Movement techniques.
