About the position
The Performance Architecture Engineer at MIPS will be a key member of the modeling team, focusing on the design and analysis of high-performance CPU architectures. This role involves contributing to the development of current and future CPU micro-architectures, requiring a blend of hardware and software expertise. The position offers significant autonomy and opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative environment, aimed at advancing RISC-V technology for various applications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct CPU performance analysis and modeling.
- Develop and specify architecture from high-level exploration to detailed specifications.
- Validate performance models and conduct architecture verification and testing.
- Create and maintain architecture tools.
Requirements
- MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of practical experience, or BS with 8+ years.
- Hands-on experience with processor architecture concepts.
- Experience in specifying CPU and multi-core CPU subsystem features such as memory models and CPU pipelines.
- Ability to write performance models and characterize performance.
Nice-to-haves
- Deep experience with RISC-V CPU architectures.
- Experience with compiler toolchains and understanding of software operations.
- Familiarity with the Sparta Modeling Framework, System-C, Gem5, or similar C++ frameworks.
