About the position

The Performance Architecture Engineer at MIPS will be a key member of the modeling team, focusing on the design and analysis of high-performance CPU architectures. This role involves contributing to the development of current and future CPU micro-architectures, requiring a blend of hardware and software expertise. The position offers significant autonomy and opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative environment, aimed at advancing RISC-V technology for various applications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct CPU performance analysis and modeling.
  • Develop and specify architecture from high-level exploration to detailed specifications.
  • Validate performance models and conduct architecture verification and testing.
  • Create and maintain architecture tools.

Requirements

  • MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of practical experience, or BS with 8+ years.
  • Hands-on experience with processor architecture concepts.
  • Experience in specifying CPU and multi-core CPU subsystem features such as memory models and CPU pipelines.
  • Ability to write performance models and characterize performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep experience with RISC-V CPU architectures.
  • Experience with compiler toolchains and understanding of software operations.
  • Familiarity with the Sparta Modeling Framework, System-C, Gem5, or similar C++ frameworks.
