About the position

The Performance Improvement Manager at Heidelberg Materials is responsible for leading initiatives aimed at achieving Operational Excellence within the aggregates and asphalt sectors. This role involves collaborating with various teams to identify and implement productivity and margin improvement opportunities, enhancing technical competence, and facilitating training programs. The position offers a chance to gain multi-site management experience and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Performance Improvement at aggregate operations by enhancing financial and non-financial KPIs.
  • Assist operations with the implementation of Minimum Operating Practices.
  • Embed the Aggregates Operating Model and the Aggregates Management Handbook.
  • Become proficient in technical aspects of quality control and production processes.
  • Collaborate with local managers to promote awareness of good practices across operations.
  • Identify new product opportunities and develop benchmarking studies.
  • Coordinate peer-based site reviews and facilitate performance improvement discussions.
  • Monitor and follow up on improvement opportunities to aid local management in achieving goals.
  • Transfer good practices across the organization and deliver training modules through the Aggregate Academy.
  • Contribute to special projects and assist with company initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field qualifications.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the aggregate or allied industry, with a minimum of 4 years in a direct quarry management role.
  • Experience in optimizing processes in quarrying, sand, and gravel operations.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and optimize production steps for various operations.
  • Ability to adapt production processes to site geology and commercial markets.
  • Excellent communication, project management, change management, and organizational influence skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Aggflow and AggQC.
  • Motivation and ability to travel regularly within the assigned region and occasionally to other parts of North America.
