About the position

As a Performance Monitoring Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of network infrastructure by deploying and maintaining an enterprise-level network monitoring solution. Your work will involve continuous observation and management of the organization's network infrastructure, ensuring peak efficiency and identifying performance issues. This position is vital for supporting the Pentagon and National Capitol Region networks, aligning them with operational needs and enhancing user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with end-users and government customers to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for complex systems and infrastructure development.
  • Develop monitoring processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check the technical performance of infrastructure and systems, reporting findings and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and monitoring software.
  • Configure the monitoring system to test the availability of infrastructure and services to measure user experience, tailoring it to meet customer needs.
  • Define system components, ensure scalability, and guide the overall technical direction of the project.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active Top-Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Active Security+ CE Certification (or higher) at time of hire.
  • One or more active network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA-Junos, or JNCIS-ENT are required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 5+ years of directly related experience in networking technologies, specifically with switches and routers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and/or Arista technologies.
  • Experience with TACACS, Radius (ACS / ISE), SNMP, Syslog, ACL's, VLAN, Routing and Switching.
  • Working knowledge of NetScout and InfoVista for effective network monitoring.
