About the position

The Performance Motorsports Technician position at Prefix Corporation offers an exciting opportunity to work within the Performance Division, primarily at the corporate headquarters in Rochester Hills and the Prefix Performance Center at M1 Concourse in Pontiac. The role involves performing maintenance and repair services on a variety of performance vehicles, supporting motorsports events, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The technician will also engage with clients to address their service needs and contribute to performance enhancement projects.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance services such as brake services, performance tire mounting and balancing, and fluid services.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical and mechanical systems according to vehicle specifications or performance needs.
• Support various motorsports events at M1, including the Woodward Dream Show and American Speed Festival.
• Communicate with clients to understand their service concerns and provide updates on service progress.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with MIOSHA regulations and Prefix safety rules.
• Support the planning and maintenance of Documented Quality and Environmental Systems.
• Collaborate with the Performance team on projects like performance Viper builds and engine swaps.

Requirements

• Associate's or vocational degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of related experience or training in automotive diagnostics and repair.
• Proficient in 12V electrical diagnosis and repair, mechanical, engine, and transmission diagnostics.
• Hold a State of Michigan Mechanic Certificate.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with performance vehicles and motorsports events.
• Familiarity with shop mathematics and analytical skills.
