About the position

The Performance Science Coordinator serves as the lead applied research scientist at the Human Performance and Nutrition Research Institute (HPNRI). This role is pivotal in leading research initiatives aimed at enhancing athlete performance, health, and safety, as well as talent identification. The coordinator oversees the delivery of sport science services across various disciplines and plays a crucial role in influencing athlete performance planning and organizational processes through data collection and analysis. The position requires collaboration with athletes, coaches, and staff, along with the development of educational resources and mentorship of interns and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research initiatives to enhance athlete performance, health, and safety.
  • Oversee the delivery and implementation of sport science services across all integrated support team disciplines.
  • Influence athlete performance planning and organizational processes through data collection and analysis.
  • Interact frequently with athletes, sport coaches, IST staff, and senior administration.
  • Develop and provide educational resources as needed.
  • Mentor and supervise multiple staff and interns.
  • Conduct site visits for research and attend conferences as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Sport Science, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience with high-level sport or tactical athlete populations.
  • Expert knowledge of kinesiology, strength and conditioning, and performance principles.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting using statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Excel, SPSS, Tableau, SQL, MATLAB).
  • Proficiency with sport science technology (e.g., GPS monitoring, heart rate, force plates, EMG/signal processing).
  • Strong knowledge of different statistical methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D./Ed.D in Exercise Science, Sports Science, or related field.
  • Experience working in a sport science research environment.
  • Experience developing research proposals and funding applications.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
  • Knowledge of human nutrition and its relationship to sport performance.
