About the position

IU Health is currently seeking a Perfusionist to support the Operating Rooms at Methodist Hospital. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-8:00pm, with no call, no weekends, and no holidays. As a Perfusionist with IU Health, you will have a uniquely exciting setting to apply your leadership skills in a Level One Trauma Center or a hospital that offers the latest advances in cancer research and leading-edge care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical perfusion functions necessary for the support or treatment of the cardiopulmonary/circulatory system of the patient.
  • Operate extracorporeal circulation equipment during medical situations to support or replace the patient's cardiopulmonary/circulatory function.
  • Ensure proper management of physiologic functions by monitoring necessary variables.

Requirements

  • CCP Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Must maintain cardiovascular perfusion certification if training was completed after April 15, 1981.
  • Completion of clinical and didactic coursework from an accredited perfusion training program is required for those trained after April 15, 1981.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and respiratory systems, physiology, anatomy, and mechanical and electronic equipment is required.
  • Perfusion experience in applying knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physiology in a hospital operating room setting is necessary.
  • Experience in open heart surgery and surgical perfusion procedures is required.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of cardiovascular perfusion, life support, and blood salvage equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
