About the position

The Periop Preference Card Manager (RN) is responsible for managing an accurate and efficient preference card system within the perioperative services of Hartford HealthCare. This role ensures that patient care needs align with available resources, educates staff and clinicians on EPIC documentation best practices, and collaborates with various stakeholders to maintain and improve the preference card system. The manager will also engage in process improvement projects and support EPIC training for staff and clinicians, utilizing performance improvement methodologies to enhance patient care and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an accurate and efficient preference card system.
  • Ensure alignment of patient care needs and resources.
  • Educate staff and clinicians on EPIC documentation best practices.
  • Work with staff, clinicians, managers, vendors, and supply chain personnel to ensure all needed instruments and supplies are on preference cards.
  • Manage preference card system and case need projections.
  • Engage in process improvement projects within perioperative services.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders, scheduling office, SPS, and supply chain.
  • Support EPIC training for staff and clinicians as part of the Perioperative education team.
  • Design data collection systems/processes to identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of perioperative experience.
  • RN-Registered Nurse license must be maintained.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of surgical services and the surgical environment.
  • Strong experience in building positive relationships and providing clinical consultative feedback.
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and managing preference cards.
  • Excellent understanding of financial impacts related to revenues, expenses, and inventory investments.
  • Familiarity with product terminology and usage.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7 years of perioperative experience
  • Registered Nurse CNOR certification preferred.
