About the position

The Perioperative Support Technician plays a crucial role in the surgical team by ensuring that operating rooms are prepared and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization. This position involves assisting in the setup and turnover of operating rooms, transporting surgical equipment, and supporting patient transport, all while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Comprehensive training is provided, making this role suitable for both experienced individuals and those new to the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the turnover and setup of Operating Rooms (OR) to ensure cleanliness and organization.
• Transport surgical equipment, specimens, and assist in patient transport.
• Prepare ORs with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
• Work closely with healthcare professionals to maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient environment in the perioperative area.
• Exhibit knowledge of aseptic techniques and Universal Precautions during OR operations.
• Perform timely OR suite turnovers and assist in setting up for surgeries.
• Ensure cleanliness across perioperative areas, including PACU, Same Day Surgery, and Endoscopy.
• Assist with safe patient transport and provide support to the surgical team as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years' Surgical Aide experience preferred.
• Current HS AED CPR certification required.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment (vacuums, mops, scrubbers) required.
• Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience with surgical equipment preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
