Perioperative Technician Surgery

About the position

The Perioperative Technician at Gundersen Health System plays a crucial role in providing care to patients in the Surgery Center. This position involves assisting with patient care during surgical procedures and ensuring a supportive environment for both patients and healthcare providers. The technician will work closely with a team of hospitalists and is expected to demonstrate accountability, effective communication, and various technical competencies in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates role accountability by adhering to the Gundersen Health System Mission Statement, policies, and confidentiality standards.
• Demonstrates dependability, organizational skills, and effective use of time by setting priorities to complete delegated work within the time frames in accordance with unit CBO and department guidelines.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills, written and verbal, while providing patient care and documenting information as directed in the medical record.
• Assists RN in admission and discharge of patients in Pre/Post-surgery and procedure area, reinforcing approved teaching materials with patients and families.
• Demonstrates competency in IV insertion, phlebotomy, performing 12 lead EKG, bladder scans, and point of care testing.

Requirements

• Wisconsin Registered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or equivalency
• 1 year of work experience in a healthcare setting
