About the position

The position is within the Taxpayer Services Division of the IRS, focusing on processing tax returns and related documents. The role requires extensive knowledge of IRS numbering systems and involves ensuring the accuracy of document processing to prevent errors that could affect federal records. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Process tax returns and related documents using IRS numbering systems.
• Ensure accuracy in assigning sequence numbers and DLNs to prevent overflow conditions.
• Detach unnecessary schedules and correspondence from returns and make necessary repairs.
• Review SCRIPS breaker transmittal sheets before scanning documents.
• Scan documents and annotate DLNs on folders, associating appropriate W-2s with scanned documents.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 level in the Federal service, or a Bachelor's degree, or a combination of experience and education.
• Experience using equipment and controls to diagnose, adjust, repair, and operate machinery.
• Familiarity with software applications to diagnose and solve technical processing errors.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations related to electronic systems and record keeping.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a tax-related field or with IRS processes.
• Familiarity with document preparation and scanning equipment.
