About the position

The Peri Sonographer II at the Center for Women's Medicine performs a variety of high-risk obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures using established AIUM protocols. This role requires a moderate degree of individual judgment based on clinical circumstances and patient conditions. The sonographer will conduct clinical assessments, perform diagnostic sonography examinations, and synthesize information with the patient's medical history.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-risk obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures using AIUM protocols.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Synthesize information with patient's medical history.
  • Record anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain electronic patient charts and records to process sonographic data and observations.
  • Maintain patient information in ultrasound documentation/reporting system, image storage system, and EMR.
  • Prepare preliminary reports as requested by the physician.
  • Use independent judgment during exams to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Select appropriate transducers and adjust equipment to optimize images based on fetal position and anatomy.
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and take corrective action when possible.
  • Explain medical studies and procedures to patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Technical School Diploma in Ultrasonography or Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Three years' experience performing 3D/4D examinations and extended cardiac views.
  • RDMS-Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer OB/GYN upon hire.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • CLEAR - Cervical Length Education and Review within 180 days.
  • NT - Nuchal Translucency within 1080 days.
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification within 18 months.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or equivalent.
  • Five or more years' experience performing 3D/4D examinations and extended cardiac views.
