About the position

The Permanent Building Substitute Teacher at Naperville Community Unit School District 203 is responsible for delivering lesson plans and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment for students. This role is essential for maintaining continuity in the classroom during the absence of regular teachers and involves managing student behavior and communicating effectively with staff and students. The position is available for the 2023-2024 school year only and requires a commitment to work five days a week at the assigned school.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lesson plans as instructed by the regular classroom teacher and/or school administrators.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students within the assigned classroom and appropriately respond to all emergency situations.
• Ensure the protection of equipment, materials, and facilities as appropriate.
• Communicate in a positive way with all students, staff, and others.
• Manage student behavior to support a positive learning environment.
• Participate in building events such as fire drills, evacuations, assemblies, etc.
• Direct activities of classroom assistant(s) as needed.

Requirements

• Active state of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
• Willingness to work 5 days per week at the assigned school.
