About the position

The Permanent Charge Nurse at Salem Hospital's Perioperative Care, Operative Team is responsible for overseeing daily operations within a designated patient care area. This role involves collaboration with the Nursing Manager to plan and implement patient care, ensuring high-quality service and clinical outcomes. The Charge Nurse will manage staff assignments, patient flow, and decision-making regarding staffing while also participating in the development of clinical standards and improvement initiatives. This position is integral to the functioning of the Operative Team, which includes expert nurses, surgeons, and anesthesiology professionals, and is known for its outstanding clinical outcomes in a state-of-the-art operating environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations in a designated patient care area.
• Collaborate with the Nursing Manager in planning and implementing patient care.
• Manage staff assignments and patient flow.
• Make shift-to-shift decisions regarding staffing.
• Participate in the development of patient care clinical standards and evaluation of outcomes.
• Lead improvement initiatives within the team.
• Serve as a role model for staff and oversee customer service.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Current license to practice as a RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Demonstrates clinical experience in the assigned area.
• Utilizes current concepts of nursing practice in the management of patient care.
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to promote effective working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with stress relating to the changing organizational climate, personnel and patient care issues.

Nice-to-haves
