About The Position

The position is for a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Muskingum County. This role is open to permanent Highway Technicians for internal bidding, specifically employees in the Highway Technician classifications 1, 2, 3, and 4, who may be considered for lateral transfers into the position. The selected candidate will be classified based on their qualifications.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction for HMW1.
• For HT1, formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment; valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already a licensed CDL holder.
• Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing.
• Perform snow and ice operations.
