About the position
University Academy Charter High School is seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher/School Aide for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position involves covering classes across various subjects, assisting in student interventions, and supporting teachers and administration in maintaining a positive school environment. The role is essential for ensuring classroom continuity and providing support to students and staff alike.
Responsibilities
- Cover classes as a substitute teacher in all subjects as assigned.
- Run cool down sessions or In School Suspensions for students needing intervention.
- Assist the Director of Guidance and Support Service and social workers during interventions.
- Provide relief to teachers during teaching and study halls.
- Assist in the SAT Pullout Program.
- Enforce school policies using intervention strategies such as giving students choices and positive reinforcement.
- Patrol and monitor hallways and other facilities of the school and gymnasium.
- Escort students to various locations within the school.
- Monitor locker rooms and check for student compliance with hall passes and uniforms.
- Monitor lunch privilege roster and Physical Education class rosters.
- Remind students to clean up after themselves during lunchtime and assist with cleaning when needed.
- Chaperone field trips and assist during the Schoolwide Quiet Time/Meditation Program.
- Update student phone numbers and addresses on PowerSchool.
- Reach out to alumni for updated contact information and assist in mailings.
Requirements
- 60 College Credits
- NJ Substitute Teacher License
- Experience working with students
- Classroom management skills
- Computer skills
