About the position

The Permit Coordinator at Taco Bell is responsible for managing the construction permit application process and expediting utility approvals in high-demand markets. This role is crucial for strategic planning and ensuring timely project execution by identifying potential roadblocks early. The coordinator acts as a liaison between the organization and regulatory authorities, providing support to Brand Partners and facilitating the development of new and existing store locations.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and manage development permit processes to ensure timely approvals.
  • Coordinate initial meetings with jurisdictions to discuss project requirements and timelines.
  • Prepare permitting budgets on a per-project basis.
  • Track the status of permit reviews and approvals.
  • Facilitate responses from design consultants to jurisdictional comments.
  • Expedite utility coordination and approvals for new stores.
  • Collaborate with brand partners to enhance preparation for future development.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the new store development process.
  • Coordinate with building manufacturers for required state approvals.
  • Coordinate with sign companies for external signage approvals.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve permit issues.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders regarding schedules and changes in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement strategies for streamlining the permitting process for future projects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the organization and regulatory authorities.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with permitting agencies.
  • Review and interpret local, state, and federal regulations related to permitting, zoning, and building codes.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure all necessary documents are submitted for permit applications.
  • Provide regular progress reports to project teams and senior management.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in managing construction permits and utility permits, applications, approvals, and regulatory approvals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Proven track record of successfully navigating permit approval processes in various jurisdictions.
  • Experience in real estate development processes and familiarity with site selection, zoning, and land use regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and workflows that optimize permit and utility approval processes.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between units.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with QSR and franchising is preferred.
  • Confidential security clearance is preferred.
