About the position

The Permitting Specialist at Crown Castle is responsible for applying for and securing all necessary licenses and permits to build fiber and small cell infrastructure. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the site selection, construction, and operational phases. The Specialist will manage application timelines, forecast authorizations, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate timely project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings for compliance with jurisdiction and/or utility standards
  • Submit and acquire authorizations, approvals, and agreements from jurisdictions and utilities
  • Address tactical challenges to the acquisition of authorizations or service connections
  • Perform timely system updates, including accurate forecasting and milestone task completion
  • Communicate effectively with all customers during all stages of network deployment and operations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with utility and jurisdictional stakeholders
  • Provide research and advice regarding conditions of attachment to regulated infrastructure
  • Represent Crown Castle before local agencies and planning authorities
  • Engage and oversee outside vendors as applicable
  • Comprehend and serve as a subject matter expert on state & federal telecommunications regulations
  • Provide research and advice regarding access rights, permitting, and project deployment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum two years' experience in planning, zoning, land use, utility joint use, or telecommunications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to comprehend contracts and agreements
  • Proven ability to collaborate and present persuasive arguments
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Customer service orientation with a problem-solving approach
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations related to licensing and permitting fiber and small cells
