About the position

The Persistence Pathways Advisor at KIPP Massachusetts will play a crucial role in supporting alumni and their families in navigating post-secondary education and career pathways. This position focuses on providing personalized advising, developing programming to enhance post-secondary persistence, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure students achieve their educational goals. The advisor will utilize a holistic approach to empower students, helping them identify their strengths and overcome barriers to success.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the KIPP Forward team to execute the KIPP Forward Persistence framework for post-secondary support.
  • Advise alumni on navigating college campuses, financial aid, and socio-emotional support.
  • Travel to meet with alumni on their respective campuses for an estimated 50% of the time each month.
  • Execute benchmark assessments to determine persistence threats and create support plans.
  • Maintain student records and data requirements, including weekly trackers and Salesforce updates.
  • Support the development and implementation of KIPP Forward initiatives and programming.
  • Connect students to necessary tools and resources for post-secondary persistence.
  • Advise students through the transfer process when applicable.
  • Collaborate with KIPP Academy teams on student transition planning and support.
  • Update student data daily and generate weekly reports for management.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of professional experience working with youth from diverse populations or underserved communities.
  • Outstanding project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with higher education access and success for low-income and first-generation students.
  • Ability to connect with diverse backgrounds and listen deeply to stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to multi-task in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
