About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Personal Assistant at Neighbor Links, LLC is responsible for assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence. This role involves supporting daily living skills, facilitating community engagement, and ensuring the well-being of the individuals served. The DSP will work closely with clients to develop personalized schedules, monitor health needs, and maintain documentation, all while adhering to state and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living skills and the development of independent community skills.
• Develop a weekly schedule for each person to maximize community engagement.
• Complete training with individuals towards achieving support plan outcomes and goals.
• Monitor and report health and medical needs of individuals.
• Administer medication(s) with approved training and complete appropriate documentation.
• Accompany individuals to and from appointments, employment, and activities.
• Build a support network between individuals and community members.
• Accurately complete all in-house documentation and maintain current case notes.
• Provide reports on individuals' progress and how it relates to overall goals.
• Maintain inventory and ensure adequate supply of groceries and household items.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of one-year experience in the role of Direct Support Professional or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.
• First Aid / CPR certification and any other required agency training within the first 30 days of employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in caregiving or administrative roles.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds (weight of average manual wheelchair when chair is empty).
