About the position

Personal Assistants provide compassionate support and comprehensive services to empower older adults to lead safe, healthy, and independent lives. The role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients without engaging in personal care. Personal Assistants are expected to manage household calendars, coordinate appointments, and handle various tasks efficiently while demonstrating empathy and patience in their interactions with older adults. This position requires a flexible schedule, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, allowing for adaptability to the dynamic needs of the household. In this role, Personal Assistants will aid in creating, scheduling, and maintaining a calendar of social engagements, medical appointments, and leisure activities, while encouraging clients to participate to the best of their abilities. Responsibilities include assisting with household tasks, managing online orders, pet care, home organization, downsizing, managing mail, and driving or accompanying clients to appointments or errands. Additionally, Personal Assistants will conduct basic troubleshooting of household technology and appliances, ensuring that clients can maintain their independence and comfort at home. Responsibilities

  • Aid in creating, scheduling, and maintaining a calendar of social engagements, medical appointments, and leisure activities.
  • Assist with household tasks, managing online orders, pet care, home organization, downsizing, and managing mail.
  • Drive or accompany clients to appointments or errands.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of household technology and appliances such as Wi-Fi, alarm systems, safety devices, computers, and printers.
  • Engage clients to participate in activities to the best of their abilities.
  • Communicate with household staff, maintenance workers, and family members.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills to manage household calendars and coordinate appointments.
  • Excellent communication skills tailored for interactions within a home environment.
  • Demonstrated empathy and patience in providing support to older adults.
  • Familiarity with household procedures and managing household needs.
  • Comfort and proficiency with household technology and electronic calendar management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Flexibility to handle unexpected changes and adapt to the dynamic needs of the household.
  • Strong customer service skills for positive interactions with family members and household staff.
  • Valid driver's license for at least 2 years with no major citations in the last 3 years and current vehicle insurance covering the required minimum limits.
  • Experience in dementia care with older adults who have cognitive impairments.
