About the position

The Bethesda Big Train is offering an internship for college and graduate students to assist the General Manager and Head Coach during the summer 2025 season. This role provides an opportunity to gain real-life experience in the sports industry, with interns rotating through various responsibilities on game days and representing the organization at community events. Ideal candidates should be outgoing, self-motivated, and willing to engage in diverse tasks.

Responsibilities

• Attend all Big Train Home and Away games
• Assist Big Train coaches with set-up and post-game procedures and any other duties as assigned
• Support the Manager of Big Train in day-to-day functions
• Assist in the operation of Big Train both on and off the field
• Develop and maintain a database of all College contacts, teams, leagues throughout the region
• Assist/Schedule all Big Train activity in the community
• Assist with the planning and execution of all Big Train camps, clinics, etc.
• Visit local games to engage with players, coaches, and fans with Big Train players and/or mascots
• Available and ability to work game days as needed throughout the summer season
• Support the team in all large-scale events
• Tasks/projects as assigned by the Executive Director of Big Train Charities and Community Engagement
• Assist with daily field and facility maintenance during the week
• Inventory
• Schedule Camp Counselors and Before and After Care workers
• Schedule Background Checks for all employees
• Developing Camp Rosters
• Schedule Home and Away pre-game meals
• Prepare/Gather reports from Trackman/Pointstreak Interns

Requirements

• College or graduate student
• Ability to work night and weekend events in June and July
• Outgoing and willing to engage in conversation with strangers
• Customer service background preferred
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
