About the position
The Personal Banker serves as the primary point of contact for retail branch customers, focusing on meeting their sales and service needs while achieving branch goals. This role involves processing transactions, providing exceptional customer service, and consulting with customers to maximize sales opportunities. Personal Bankers also travel to various branches as needed to fulfill staffing requirements, spending approximately 60% of their time on teller functions and 40% on relationship banking duties.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers proactively to establish rapport and provide personalized service.
- Execute customer transactions accurately and efficiently while maximizing sales potential.
- Assist customers with inquiries and provide issue resolution professionally.
- Promote and explain bank products and services to customers.
- Open and service accounts, and interview loan applicants to identify opportunities.
- Participate in sales campaigns and training activities, supporting bank initiatives.
- Adhere to operational standards and regulatory guidelines to mitigate risk.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and demonstrate professionalism.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in the banking industry including cash handling, sales, and customer service, or 6 months of successful sales experience.
- Knowledge of bank operations, policies, and federal regulations.
- Strong customer service and consultative selling skills.
- Strong listening and comprehension skills to identify customer needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Synovus line of business partners including mortgage and private wealth management.
