About the position

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) position at Hunt Community is a full-time role focused on providing essential care and support to residents in a Life Plan Community for active individuals aged 62 and older. The PCA will work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to assist residents with daily living activities, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment while promoting their well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Perform resident-related tasks under the supervision of an RN or LPN.
  • Assist residents with basic grooming needs.
  • Serve meals and assist residents in the dining room.
  • Assist LNA's in providing fluids and nourishment to residents.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents, including bedmaking and closet cleaning.
  • Answer resident calls for assistance promptly and refer needs to an LNA or Nurse.
  • Report any changes in resident condition to the Nurse immediately.
  • Provide special services for residents not needing professional skills.
  • Carry out housekeeping functions not specifically assigned to the Housekeeping Department.
  • Maintain helpful interpersonal relationships with residents and staff.
  • Transport residents as required.
  • Assume all other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
  • Ensure self-safety and the safety of the immediate work environment.
  • Attend annual in-service programs regarding body mechanics, right to know, and fire and safety procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as requested and demonstrate a strong ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have attained the legal age of employment in the state.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs repetitively.
  • Preferably attending a health occupations class or interested in pursuing a health-related career.
