About the position

Hunt Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Personal Care Aide (PCA) to join our caring team in a beautiful atmosphere. Our Life Plan Community is designed for active, healthy individuals aged 62 and better, situated on 16 neatly landscaped acres near downtown Nashua. As a PCA, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to our residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being in a nurturing environment. The position requires working various shifts, including 7am - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm, and 11pm - 7am, with differential pay for evening and night shifts, as well as additional compensation for weekend work. In this role, you will perform resident-related tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Your responsibilities will include assisting residents with basic grooming needs, serving meals, and providing support to residents in the dining room. You will also assist Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) in ensuring residents receive adequate fluids and nourishment. Maintaining a safe, attractive, and comfortable environment for residents is crucial, which includes tasks such as bedmaking and closet cleaning. You will be expected to respond promptly to resident calls for assistance and report any changes in their condition to the nursing staff. Additionally, you will carry out housekeeping functions that are not specifically assigned to the Housekeeping Department and transport residents as required. The PCA position requires a strong ability to work in a team atmosphere and a commitment to maintaining helpful interpersonal relationships with residents and staff alike. You will also be responsible for your own safety and the safety of your immediate work environment, and attendance at annual in-service programs regarding body mechanics, right to know, and fire and safety procedures is mandatory. This role is ideal for individuals who are either currently attending a health occupations class or are interested in pursuing a health-related career.

Responsibilities

  • Perform resident-related tasks under the supervision of an RN or LPN.
  • Assist residents with basic grooming needs.
  • Serve meals and assist residents in the dining room.
  • Assist LNAs in providing fluids and nourishment to residents.
  • Maintain a safe, attractive, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Answer resident calls for assistance promptly and refer needs to an LNA or Nurse.
  • Report to the Nurse immediately if a resident complains or has a change in condition.
  • Provide special services for residents not needing professional skills.
  • Carry out housekeeping functions on the unit not assigned to the Housekeeping Department.
  • Maintain helpful interpersonal relationships with residents and staff.
  • Transport residents as required.
  • Assume all other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
  • Assume responsibility for self-safety and safety of the immediate work environment.
  • Attend annual in-service programs regarding body mechanics, right to know, and fire and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Licensed Nursing Assistant certification.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50lbs with repetition.
  • Preferably attending a health occupations class or interested in pursuing a health-related career.
