About the position

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) position at an Assisted Living Facility in Manhattan, NY, is a full-time, temporary role focused on providing essential support and assistance to residents. The PCA will ensure residents can live safely and independently, performing a variety of tasks under the supervision of on-site staff. This role is crucial for enhancing the well-being of residents and involves direct interaction and care.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the personal hygiene and physical well-being of residents.
  • Check rooms for bed bugs and/or signs of infestations.
  • Assist residents in activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, walking, and other personal care needs.
  • Monitor and ensure regular meal consumption by residents.
  • Assist residents in using the dining room, participating in activity programs, and engaging in the community.
  • Escort residents to medical and other appointments as directed.
  • Support kitchen staff in meal preparation, serving, and clean up.
  • Collaborate with housekeeper/porter for various tasks including cleaning, garbage removal, recycling, and laundry.
  • Travel for errands to stores, clinics, and offices as directed.
  • Staff the front desk, interact with residents respectfully, screen visitors, monitor security systems, and answer phone calls.
  • Work as part of a team to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for the resident community.
  • Cooperate with other staff members and communicate any issues or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Report resident progress, needs, and problems to other staff.
  • Attend training sessions and conferences for professional development.
  • Implement emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Submit all required reports in a complete and timely manner.
  • Assist with other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with dependent persons (preferred).
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Emotionally, mentally, and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
