About the position

Cardinal Hayes Home for Children is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing residential care and treatment for young people with developmental disabilities. Located in Millbrook, New York, the facility is set on a serene 62-acre campus, approximately 75 miles north of New York City. We are currently seeking Personal Care Aides (PCAs) or Direct Support Professionals to join our team and deliver high-quality care to individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to assisting individuals with their daily living activities and ensuring their overall well-being. As a PCA, you will be responsible for providing essential support to our residents, which includes assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. You will also provide companionship and emotional support to both patients and their families, helping to create a nurturing environment. Monitoring vital signs, assisting with patient transfers, and supporting ambulation and exercise programs are also key components of this role. Additionally, you will assist with meal preparation and feeding, as well as light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe living space for our residents. This position requires individuals who can handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting and transferring patients. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with individuals who require compassionate care. Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Monitor vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Assist with transferring patients from bed to wheelchair or other devices.
  • Assist with ambulation and exercise programs.
  • Provide assistance with meal preparation and feeding.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks.

Requirements

  • Valid State Tested Nursing Assistant license.
  • Valid Certified Home Health Aide certification.
  • Experience in long-term care.
