About the position

The Personal Care Applications Lab Assistant will support the application team by conducting routine laboratory procedures and activities under the supervision of a scientist. This part-time role involves evaluating materials and products for personal care applications, performing laboratory scale product scale-up, and ensuring a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory scale product scale-up and perform stability tests.
• Evaluate materials and products targeted for personal care applications using standard test methods and laboratory equipment.
• Characterize raw materials and assess product performance and stability relative to key benchmarks.
• Record experimental data and observations in an electronic laboratory notebook.
• Prepare tables, charts, graphs, and written summaries of experimental results.
• Maintain a safe and orderly laboratory work environment and contribute to the efficient running of the lab.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• In-progress or completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Previous hands-on practical chemistry laboratory experience.
• Adaptability with an ability to quickly learn new experimental methods and procedures.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining careful attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Working knowledge of standard computer applications (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in laboratory methods related to the formulation and evaluation of personal care products.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety requirements.
