About the position

One Patient at a Time (OPAAT) Companion & Homemaker is currently seeking dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCA) to join our growing team in Middletown, CT. OPAAT is a local home care agency that specializes in providing affordable, non-medical care to seniors who require companionship or assistance with their daily activities. Our mission is to ensure that seniors receive the care they need in the comfort of their own homes or places of residence. We are looking for caregivers who are not only professional and experienced but also possess a genuine passion for working with seniors. Our caregivers are expected to provide exceptional care with compassion, dignity, and respect, ensuring that our clients feel valued and supported. As a PCA, you will be responsible for a variety of essential services that enhance the quality of life for our clients. These services include, but are not limited to, assisting with bathing and dressing, providing toileting and incontinent care, offering companionship, preparing meals, assisting with transfers and mobility, reminding clients to take their medications, and accompanying them to medical appointments or errands. Additionally, you will help clients with grocery shopping and engage them in recreational activities to promote their well-being. Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with bathing and dressing
  • Provide toileting and incontinent care
  • Offer companionship to clients

Requirements

  • Professional experience in personal care assistance or related field
  • Compassionate and respectful attitude towards seniors
  • Ability to assist with activities of daily living
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working with seniors
  • Certification in CPR or first aid
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal preparation
