About the position

The Personal Care Assistant/Enhanced Instructional Assistant at Forest View Elementary School is a full-time position dedicated to providing support to students with diverse needs. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive. The assistant will work closely with teachers and other staff members to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support students in their daily activities, both academically and socially. The position requires a compassionate and patient individual who can adapt to the varying needs of students throughout the school day. In this role, the assistant will be responsible for assisting students with personal care tasks, which may include helping with mobility, hygiene, and feeding. Additionally, the assistant will support students in the classroom by facilitating learning activities, providing one-on-one assistance, and encouraging positive social interactions among peers. The assistant will also be involved in monitoring student progress and communicating effectively with teachers and parents to ensure that each student's needs are met. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to student success and be able to create a nurturing and supportive environment. This position requires flexibility, as the assistant may need to adjust their approach based on the individual needs of each student. Responsibilities

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and compassion in working with students.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
• Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
