About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position at The Grand Residence at Upper St. Clair is a full-time role specifically for the 3PM to 11PM shift. The primary responsibility of the PCA is to assist residents with their activities of daily living (ADLs), which include personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, bathing, transferring, and managing incontinence. This role is crucial in ensuring that residents maintain their dignity and comfort while receiving the necessary support. The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or GED and have a genuine desire to work with the elderly population. Candidates should exhibit qualities such as kindness, honesty, dependability, and a caring nature. While previous experience in a similar role is preferred, it is not a strict requirement, making this position accessible to those new to the field. In addition to direct care responsibilities, the PCA will establish and maintain effective communication and professional relationships with residents, co-workers, and other staff members. Confidentiality regarding resident information is paramount, and the PCA must ensure that all documentation is complete and compliant with relevant regulations and standards. Participation in in-service training, continuing education programs, and staff meetings is also expected to enhance skills and knowledge in providing care. The PCA will be required to use equipment and supplies safely and properly, and must be physically capable of bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, and lifting heavy objects as needed. Reliable transportation is necessary, as the facility is not located on a bus line. A new hire bonus is available, contingent upon maintaining the position for 90 consecutive days in good standing.
