About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role at Care Plus PCA involves providing essential support to residents in a community setting. This part-time position focuses on assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) while promoting their independence and ensuring their safety and comfort. The PCA will work closely with residents, nursing staff, and other team members to deliver personalized care according to individual service plans.

Responsibilities

  • Read and implement care/activities of daily living (ADLs) according to the resident service plan.
  • Respond to resident needs, pendant calls, and other community alarms in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate empathy and develop a caring rapport with residents.
  • Promote resident independence and self-care.
  • Conduct visual safety checks on all assigned residents at the start of each shift.
  • Communicate resident status effectively with the next shift at the end of each shift.
  • Report any changes in resident condition to nursing promptly.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and timely.
  • Understand and apply policies related to safety and infection control.
  • Promote a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Assist housekeeping and maintenance staff to keep the community and resident property clean.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of care delivered.
  • Recognize, respond to, and report concerns in the resident's environment.
  • Demonstrate behavior that respects resident rights and promotes independence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of resident's rights
  • Ability to work within professional scope of practice per state laws and regulations
