About the position

The Personal Care Assistant at LIFE Geisinger provides essential personal care and support to participants in both the Adult Day Health Center and their homes. The role focuses on maintaining the independence and health of older adults by delivering personalized care, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring a safe and respectful environment. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to enhance the quality of care for participants.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance to participants at the Adult Day Health Center and in their homes.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care, nutrition, hydration, and mobility support.
• Monitor and document vital signs and medication compliance.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry tasks as needed.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and data collection for mandatory requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with participants and co-workers, ensuring respect and understanding of participants' rights.
• Work cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care.
• Attend team meetings and complete required educational training.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification is required.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Valid Driver's License is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with older adults is a plus.
• Knowledge of home care practices and safety protocols.
