The Personal Care Assistant/Medication Technician position at Norbert Personal Care in Pittsburgh, PA, is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing personal care and support to residents in a geriatric setting. The position is available for part-time, full-time, or PRN (as needed) schedules, with a starting pay of $15 per hour. The company offers free Medication Technician training after the first six months for those who do not already possess the certification. The primary working hours for this role are during the 3-11 shift, which allows for a structured routine in providing care during the evening hours. As a Personal Care Assistant/Medication Technician, you will work under the direction of nursing staff to deliver personal care services to residents. This includes responding to residents' call signals to assess their needs, assisting with dressing, and ensuring that residents are appropriately attired for the season and time of day. You will also help residents with ambulation, ensuring their safe movement throughout the facility. Additional responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in residents' living spaces, assisting with personal hygiene routines, and monitoring residents for any changes in their condition, reporting any unusual occurrences to your supervisor. This role is vital in fostering a supportive and safe environment for residents, ensuring their dignity and comfort are upheld at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Answers Residents' call signal to determine Residents' needs.
  • Assists residents with dressing as needed and assigned, ensuring they are dressed appropriately for the season and time of day.
  • Assists residents with ambulation as needed and assigned to ensure safe movement through the building.
  • Provides miscellaneous assistance to residents, including making beds, emptying trash, and picking up clutter.
  • Ensures resident hygiene by following the bath schedule and providing baths and/or sponge baths as necessary to keep residents clean and odor-free.
  • Assists residents with toileting as needed and assigned to maintain good toileting habits and continence when possible.
  • Assists residents with transferring as needed and assigned.
  • Observes residents for changes in condition and reports unusual occurrences to the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • CPR Certification is required.
  • Entry-level position suitable for individuals with under 1 year of experience.
