About the position

The Judge Group is seeking dedicated Personal Care Assistants (Middle School) in Kennett Square, PA, to provide essential support to students with disabilities. This role is crucial in ensuring that students receive the necessary assistance in both behavioral and academic areas, thereby enhancing their educational experience. The position is scheduled from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM, Monday through Friday, and includes a paid break. The contract for this role is guaranteed through the end of the academic year, providing stability for both the employees and the students they support. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering one-on-one support tailored to the individual needs of students. This includes assisting with instructional activities as directed by the case manager and teacher, focusing on various domains such as cognitive abilities, motor skills, self-care, and behavior management. You will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of students with physical disabilities by monitoring their environment and potential risks, as well as providing personal care tasks such as hygiene and toileting. In addition to direct support, you will collaborate with specialists to facilitate physical development exercises and prepare students for inclusion in mainstream classes. Your participation in training sessions and in-service programs related to medical care and educational strategies will be essential for your professional development and effectiveness in this role. Maintaining accurate records of student progress and applying positive behavior intervention strategies will also be key components of your responsibilities. This position requires a compassionate individual who can foster social interactions among students and work effectively with case managers, general education teachers, and other staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to students focusing on behavioral and academic areas.
  • Assist in the execution of effective educational programs as designated by the case manager.
  • Deliver instructional support as directed by the teacher in various domains such as cognitive abilities, motor skills, self-care, and behavior management.
  • Aid the teacher in ensuring the health and safety of students with physical disabilities by monitoring the environment and potential risks.
  • Support students with personal care tasks, including hygiene, toileting, and changing as necessary.
  • Oversee and manage student behavior in line with established protocols.
  • Collaborate with specialists in facilitating physical development exercises.
  • Prepare students for inclusion in mainstream classes following set guidelines.
  • Participate in training sessions and in-service programs related to medical care and educational strategies as required.
  • Help students with orthopedic devices, aiding in their movement and positioning.
  • Maintain records that track student progress and assist the teacher in documentation.
  • Apply positive behavior intervention strategies and support policies.
  • Work in conjunction with case managers, general education teachers, and other staff members as required.
  • Facilitate and enhance students' social interactions.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities.
  • Ability to provide personal care and support to students as needed.
