About the position

AbaCares Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in Reading, PA. This is a full-time, individual contributor role in the homecare field with a starting salary of $14 per hour. As a PCA, you will provide care and support to individuals with physical or mental disabilities or other medical conditions. You will play a vital role in helping our clients maintain their independence and improve their overall quality of life. In this position, you will assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. You will also provide medication reminders and assistance with medication management, ensuring that clients adhere to their prescribed regimens. Accompanying clients on errands, appointments, and social outings will be part of your responsibilities, as well as helping with light housekeeping and meal preparation. Monitoring clients' physical and mental health and reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals is crucial to this role. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of client care is essential, as is building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and their families. You will be expected to adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards of care while attending training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
