About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position at Warwick Elementary School is a full-time role designed to support students with various needs, including autism, emotional and behavioral challenges, intellectual disabilities, medical conditions, and physical requirements. The PCA will work one-on-one with a designated student, assisting them throughout the school day, which includes classroom activities, specials, lunch, and recess. The role is crucial in helping the student navigate daily academic and social activities, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive in an educational environment. In this position, the PCA will be responsible for providing personal care and grooming assistance, as well as helping the student with organizational skills and managing impulsivity. The PCA will also be trained in crisis prevention techniques and strategies, which may include restraint as a last resort, to ensure the safety and well-being of the student. This training will be provided by the Central Bucks School District (CBSD). The employment for this position is contingent upon the requirement for personal care services as outlined in the student's individualized educational program (IEP). The PCA will be expected to work collaboratively with other staff members, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks effectively, and communicate clearly with both students and adults. A positive role model for students, the PCA will play a vital role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required at the time of hire.
  • Ability to work as a team member and exercise good judgment.
  • Effective communication skills with both students and adults.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
