About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in home care, assisted living, or nursing home settings and will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for our clients. This role requires a blend of personal care skills, empathy, and the ability to work independently while following care plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor client health status.
• Provide direct support for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
• Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Help clients with mobility, including lifting and transferring as needed.
• Drive clients to appointments or social activities when required.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring all living spaces are tidy and organized.
• Document daily activities and report any changes in client condition to the supervising nurse or care manager.

Requirements

• Proven experience in personal care assistance within home care, retirement homes, or nursing homes.
• Strong understanding of medication administration protocols.
• Ability to provide compassionate direct support to individuals with varying needs.
• Proficient in meal preparation that adheres to dietary guidelines.
• Experience in dementia care is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient demeanor.
• Ability to lift clients safely and assist with mobility challenges.
• Valid driver's license is preferred for transportation duties.
