As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Sweet Homemaker, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to clients in their homes. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as providing emotional support and companionship to both patients and their families. You will also be responsible for monitoring vital signs, administering medications as directed by healthcare professionals, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients. In this role, you will work closely with individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and patients who require home care. Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care to patients in their homes, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Administer medications as directed by health care professionals.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.

Requirements

  • Certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certification is required.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to cook simple meals and perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Satisfactory completion of New York State Health Department-approved HHA Training Program or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated adequate literacy and simple arithmetic skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Able to read and write at a 5th grade level.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and valid car insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, or patients requiring home care is preferred.
