About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Sweet Homemaker, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to clients in their homes, ensuring they remain safe and comfortable. This position is ideal for certified home health aides who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals requiring home care. You will be at the heart of our client's care, delivering personalized support that meets their unique needs. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as providing emotional support and companionship. You will also be responsible for monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes to the appropriate medical personnel, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible care. In this role, you will be expected to maintain a clean and safe environment for your clients, which includes performing light housekeeping duties and cooking simple meals as needed. Your understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient confidentiality will be essential in maintaining the trust and safety of those you care for. Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care to patients in their homes, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Administer medications as directed by health care professionals.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.

Requirements

  • Certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certification is required.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to cook simple meals and perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Satisfactory completion of New York State Health Department-approved HHA Training Program or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated adequate literacy and simple arithmetic skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Able to read and write at a 5th grade level.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and valid car insurance.
