About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Sweet Homemaker, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to clients in their homes. This position is centered around ensuring that individuals, particularly those with developmental disabilities, seniors, or patients requiring home care, receive the support they need to maintain their independence and quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as helping with mobility and transfers to ensure the safety of patients. You will also be responsible for administering medications as directed by healthcare professionals and monitoring vital signs, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel. In addition to physical care, you will provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes comfort and trust. Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care to patients in their homes, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Administer medications as directed by health care professionals.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA).
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to cook simple meals and perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Satisfactory completion of New York State Health Department-approved HHA Training Program or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated adequate literacy and simple arithmetic skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Able to read and write at a 5th grade level.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, valid car insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, or patients requiring home care.
