About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Sweet Homemaker, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to clients in their homes across New London County and Middlesex County, CT. This position is designed for certified home health aides who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals requiring home care. You will be at the heart of our client's care, ensuring they receive the support they need to stay safe and comfortable in their own homes. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as providing emotional support and companionship to both patients and their families. In this role, you will also be responsible for assisting with mobility and transfers, administering medications as directed by healthcare professionals, and monitoring vital signs to report any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel. Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients is essential, as is the ability to cook simple meals and perform light housekeeping duties as needed. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certification is required.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to cook simple meals and perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Satisfactory completion of New York State Health Department-approved HHA Training Program or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated adequate literacy and simple arithmetic skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Able to read and write at a 5th grade level.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and valid car insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, or patients requiring home care is preferred.
